Israeli Occupation Troops Uproot Trees of a Local Palestinian Farmer
<br>RAFAH, December 28, 2004 (IPC Exclusive)--Ali Abedrabo Dohair, 50 years-old, from the southern Gaza Strip City of Rafah, has been holding a branch of lemon tree, questioning by saying " has the Palestinian farmer committed a crime so that my farm has been destroyed that way by the Israeli occupation troops. They actually want to kill us weather with bullets or with our lands being razed".
Dohair was speaking to the IPC correspondent while his face looked very sad. He went onto saying that tens of Israeli armored vehicles and bulldozers, invaded the Mosabeh neighborhood, to the north of Rafah, in Thursday December 23, 12, 2004, advancing out of the illegal Moraj settlement, under a barrage of heavy gun fire and with the cover of combat helicopters, then began razing vast areas of lemon, olive and palm trees.
Dohair looked very sad and angry for his lemon, olive and palm trees the Israeli bulldozers have uprooted, making clear that the destruction his farm has been inflicted was very large.
He was quoted as questioning " have the Zionists 'Israeli troops' been aware that these trees are older than the occupation of our lands". He inquired as to why such a large amount of destruction ? are they practicing killing and bulldozing as a hobby?.
He hinted that the Israeli occupation troops have uprooted 480 lemon trees, 110 palm trees and four green houses of cucumber, tomato and potato.
Farmer Dohair asserted during the interview with the IPC that it was not the first time that the Israeli troops raze his land, as in November 2001, the Israelis bulldozed 20 dunums of arable lands planted with 800 olive trees and in October, 2003, they devastated three green houses of tomato completely.
In a grieve tone, Dohair told the IPC correspondent " the Israeli troops destroyed our lands and farms, leaving nothing for us after they flattened everything there".
He appealed to the international community including the human rights organizations to work on stopping the continued Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and protecting the olive, lemon and palm trees which are 'symbol' for world peace.
