www.nytimes.com/2005/03/02/business/02auto.html?thLayoffs happening. Ford & GM had basically become truck companies and spurred sales w/ rebates and low interest. That isn't working any more, and US sales overall were down 1% last month over same last year. Nissan, Toyota and Honda saw their market share increase substantially, having entered the SUV market. But sedans are coming back, and Ford and GM are making some. Huge layoffs, a sell on Ford and GM stocks, and no light at end of tunnel.
