A Second "Equal Time for Intelligent Design" BillOn April 7 House Bill 1722 was introduced in the Missouri General Assembly. This bill would require "the equal treatment of science instruction regarding evoluton and intelligent design". It is sponsored by the same representative as House Bill 911, introduced earlier this year, and contains much the same language as that bill with the exception of a few provisions. HB911 states that "Willful neglect of any elementary or secondary school superintendent, principal, or teacher to observe and carry out the requirements of this section shall be cause for termination of his or her contract" and "Each public school classroom in this state from grades eight through twelve in which science is taught exclusively shall post a copy of this section in a conspicuous manner". HB1722 does not contain these sentences. No action has been taken on HB911 since its introduction in January. The current session of the House of Representatives is scheduled to end on May 14. April 8, 2004 Update-I think there has been some movement in Missouri regarding HB911.

How were these cretins able to recognise the "Intelligent Design"? Here's a hint: They weren't looking in the mirror. ;D On a more serious note, this is one of the things about the United States that I find the most deeply embarassing without falling into the 'likely to get me killed' category-that we're in the 21st century now, evolution as a theory is going to be heading into it's third century of being known rather soon (Darwin wrote Origin of the Species in the 1850s iirc), and these people still can't wrap these minds around it, and even worse, they're so touchy about it that they're willingly manipulated by a group of psychopaths masquerading as religious leaders. It's a theory, and a theory is a tool. It's not the end of the world.

This is what I find to be incomprehensible. Rather than paying attention to Christianity, these people seem to have created a bunch of red herrings to focus on.
I really don't think this will cut the mustard, come judgement day.
