Don't these "visitors" have real work to do? The cost to the taxpayers in man hours alone is staggering! Or perhaps, this site is successfully subverting the bored young grunts of the intel networks, and a radical transformation of the spooks can be seen forming in the near future!

What can the explaination be for the visits from so many US gov agencies? Do they have spiders, or something similar, or do you think they have actual people doing this?

Some of it may be spooks. Most of it is probably normal people just doing some reading. Maybe they have doubts, like the rest of us? I would'nt worry too much, but I'd keep an eye on it anyway.

Beyond a simply stated platform, the most important thing we're going to need is a sign-up page. Something like a link that says:
"Become a New Democrat"
And it leads you to a name/address/ph/email form. Once you've filled it out and clicked "Submit" it loads a page inviting the new member to join the state party of whatever state they live in, or to start one if it doesn't exist.
I think we should look at democracyunbound.com as a training exercise. If we're successful, there will be a lot more traffic than the typical web page can stand, so in your daily discussions with technically proficient friends show them SC and DU, ask them what's involved, and what the rough costs are. If it's less than a grand to set up a server someplace it'll be doable.

Nice and easy to get around that site. Everything is explained clearly. And they sound like us!
Nice example JB.

They seem to have similar ideas on the gestalt level-- clearly people are not feeling at home in the Democratic Party. Haven't looked at any detail on their positions, though.

Some other ideas for the website:
1) A weekly or bimonthly column written by someone on an issue of general concern.
2) A list of reference and local organizational links. This serves two purposes:
Generates more traffic for them.
Provides everyone with more ammunition to use in arguments to convince other people.
3) What You Can Do This Week/Month-This would be a simple task that shouldn't involve too much work but at the same time helps us accomplish one of our functions. One idea I had was for people to just break the "Don't talk about politics and religion" taboo and ask someone they feel comfortable talking with if they're satisfied with their politicians and why.
The more the realization spreads that the current group of politicians is not acting in our interests and are the product of a system not designed to respond to our interests, the better we're going to do.
4) A reader-operated blog (I'm sure there must be a better word for this) where people describe their frustrations with politicians and the political system in order to deal with their problems. Really, this could be about anything because there are so many different ways in which we are being ignored, whether it's city councils ignoring constituents who want slow growth and affordable housing to politicians on a national level changing their phone numbers in order to avoid ever having to hear from the people who vote for them.
