Change of US neocons' mindset way to find meeting ground: Paper
Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA

An Iranian paper said here Saturday that initiating any dialogue between Tehran and Washington requires a complete change in the US neoconservatives attitude towards Iran.
Commenting on the latest statement of the Iranian interior minister, the 'Iran Daily' said "It is not that Iran and the US cannot find a meeting ground, because there are democratic elements in the US Congress and foreign policy committees, which do support dialogue and a move to improve relations with Tehran."
The Iranian minister, Mostafa Pourmohammadi, has said that Iran might consider holding talks with the US, "if they are based on an equal footing and mutual respect.
"To initiate a dialogue between the two sides would first need some confidence building measures through goodwill gestures," explained the editorial.
It further stressed that for the time being, "there is nothing in Washington's attitude to show that it is moving in the direction to elicit Iranian trust."
The article added "If anything is stopping Iran from improving its ties with the West, it is the hostile and demeaning attitude of western governments vis-a-vis the Islamic Republic."
Iran Daily further stressed that Iran was only seeking "its rightful place in the international community and on issues such as its nuclear program, which western governments refuse to acknowledge as being legitimate.
"Washington's Iran policy must make a break with the past for their ties to move forward and the mindset of the neocons has to change," said the paper.
It stressed that for the time being, "the issues that were the heart of the dispute between Washington and Tehran at the time of the 1979 Islamic Revolution still remain the same."
