The Zionazis at the Weisenthal Center are behind this. I think Moses posted an article here awhile back showing it was being run by a far right settler type.CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday rejected as propaganda charges by a leading Jewish rights group that he made anti-Semitic remarks during a Christmas speech. The Simon Wiesenthal Center earlier this month accused Chavez of anti-Semitism and demanded an apology because it said he had related the Jewish people to the killing of Jesus Christ and associated them with wealth. Chavez, a socialist ally of Cuba and fierce critic of what he brands Washington's imperialist policies, did not mention the Jewish people in his December speech and had also referred to the betrayal of Venezuelan liberation hero Simon Bolivar. "Anti-liberal I am, anti-imperialist even more so, but anti-Semitic, never, that's a lie," Chavez said addressing the parliament. "It's part of a imperialist campaign, I am sure." Since he survived a 2002 coup, Chavez has often accused the U.S. government of trying to overthrow him. Washington counters that he has become a negative influence in South America. In a televised Christmas Eve speech, Chavez, a former soldier, referred broadly to "minorities, descendants of those who crucified Christ" and those who had "grabbed all the wealth." The influential Simon Wiesenthal Center promotes tolerance and confronts issues like racism and anti-Semitism and also deals with the prosecution of Nazi war criminals, neo-Nazism, and hate on the Internet. [ B.S. It promotes Talmudism and Kabalism.] Speaking to the National Assembly on Friday, Chavez also sent his regards to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as he remained in a medically induced coma after suffering from a massive stroke on January 4. news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060113/wl_nm/venezuela_chavez_jews_dc_1

Maybe I should cross-post this in the Abramoff thread because this is a good example of how the Talmudists operate by smearing their enemies and covering up discussion of their transgressions under the rubric of "anti-semitism," while their amen corner from the ADL trolls the internet.Venezuela's Jews Defend Leftist President in Flap Over RemarksThursday, Jan 12, 2006 By: Marc Perelman - Forward The Venezuelan Jewish community leadership and several major American Jewish groups are accusing the Simon Wiesenthal Center of rushing to judgment by charging Venezuela's leftist president, Hugo Chavez, with making antisemitic remarks. Officials of the leading organization of Venezuelan Jewry were preparing a letter this week to the center, complaining that it had misinterpreted Chavez's words and had failed to consult with them before attacking the Venezuelan president. [ You think they give a flying crap about what you "self-hating Jews" think?] "You have interfered in the political status, in the security, and in the well-being of our community. You have acted on your own, without consulting us, on issues that you don't know or understand," states a draft of the letter obtained by the Forward. Copies of the letter are also to be sent to the heads of the World Jewish Congress and the American Jewish Committee, among other Jewish groups. [ Where it will promptly find itself in the circular file, after which they will gnash and wail about the increase of anti-semitism in the world and work in a Holocaust reference somewhere.] "We believe the president was not talking about Jews and that the Jewish world must learn to work together," said Fred Pressner, president of the Confederation of Jewish Associations of Venezuela. The confederation is known by its Spanish acronym, CAIV. He added that this was the third time in recent years that the Wiesenthal center had publicly criticized Chavez without first consulting the local community. [ Thus proving, they don't give a flying crap what you "self-haters" think.] Last week the Wiesenthal Center wrote to Chavez, demanding that he apologize for what the center said was a negative reference to Jews during a Christmas Eve speech. The center also asked the governments of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to "freeze the process" of incorporating Venezuela into Mercosur, a regional trade bloc, unless the Venezuelan president publicly apologizes. [ Who the hell is the SWC to tell anyone how to run their country? South America ain't the US you know.] In his speech, Chavez lamented that while the world had enough resources for all, "some minorities, the descendants of the same ones who crucified Christ, the descendants of the same ones who threw out [South American liberator Simon] Bolivar from here and also crucified him in a way in Santa Marta, over there in Colombia — a minority took possession of all the planet's gold, of the silver, the minerals, the waters, the good land, the oil, the riches, and they have concentrated the riches in a few hands. Less than 10% of the world's population possesses over half of the world's riches, and more than half of the planet's population is poor, and every day there are more poor in the world." [ Actually, Chavez is right; this is the ultimate goal of the PNAC.] Both the AJCommittee and the American Jewish Congress seconded the Venezuelan community's view that Chavez's comments were not aimed at Jews. All three groups said he was aiming his barbs at the white oligarchy that has dominated the region since the colonial era, pointing to his reference to Bolivar as the clearest evidence of his intent. [ How about the SWC's translation of the speech being a purposeful mistranslation? Wouldn't be the first time the Israel firsters had done this, MEMRI does it all the time.] One official noted that Latin America's so-called Liberation Theology has long depicted Jesus as a socialist and consequently speaks of gentile business elites as "Christ-killers." Sergio Widder, the Wiesenthal center's representative in Latin America, countered that Chavez's mention of Christ-killers and wealth was ambiguous at best and in need of clarification. He said that the decision to criticize Chavez had been taken after careful consideration. The Venezuelan government did not react publicly, and its embassy in Washington declined to comment. However, senior government officials met with Israeli diplomats in Caracas this week and said that the president's remarks had no antisemitic intent or meaning, according to Livia Link, deputy chief of the Israeli Embassy. She declined to be more specific or to provide the embassy's views on the affair, saying that it was a Venezuelan issue. Complaints of American Jewish high-handedness have been aired by Jewish organizations in other countries, most notably in France. French Jews complained in 2003 that American groups were too vocal in criticizing the French government for not responding aggressively to incidents of antisemitism. Such frictions illustrate the difficulty of finding a balance between American-style aggressive advocacy and the built-in cautiousness of local Jewish communities. Pressner said that the Venezuelan Jewish confederation was not caving in to the government. He cited several protests by the confederation against antisemitic remarks broadcast on radio and television in recent months. "We are not afraid, but we need to be fair," he said. In the Venezuelan situation, American Jewish groups might be reflecting the Bush administration's displeasure with Chavez's anti-American pronouncements. But while Chavez's politics may not appeal to mainstream American Jewish groups, several spokesmen warned that labeling him antisemitic for no obvious reason is likely to prove self-fulfilling by provoking a backlash against Jews. "It appears to us that Chavez did not intentionally speak about Jews," said David Twersky, director of the AJCongress's Council on World Jewry. "I don't think we should raise the flag of antisemitism when it doesn't belong." The Wiesenthal center previously criticized Chavez publicly and urged his exclusion from Mercosur after he compared Spain's then-Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar to Hitler and again when he quipped that his political opposition resembled the wandering Jew. [ That should tell everyone all they need to know about the people running the SWC: Aznar is a fascist and a direct descendent of Franco -- this is who they are defending.] The Wiesenthal center is not the only international Jewish group entangled in Venezuela. Speaking to the media two months ago, Rabbi Henri Sobel of Brazil, a longtime World Jewish Congress leader, accused Chavez of antisemitism.Pressner said that the CAIV sent letters both to Sobel and to the Wiesenthal center urging prior consultation but failed to get a response. The Wiesenthal center's Widder confirmed that the center was making its decisions on its own and did not consult with the CAIV. "We don't speak on behalf of the Jewish community there," he said.
By contrast, other American Jewish groups that spoke out on the latest incident asked the CAIV for guidance."Having served in a Jewish community in Latin America that always welcomed cooperation with international and American Jewish organizations, I understand the urge to help a community," said Dina Siegel Vann, director of the AJCommittee's Institute on Latino and Latin American Affairs and a former political adviser to the Mexican Jewish community leadership. "But it has to be tempered by the realization that many times, those organizations do not have the full picture of the local dynamics. And the basic courtesy is to call the local Jewish community and ask what they can do to help." Taken from: Forward www.venezuelanalysis.com/news.php?newsno=1864

Not if you are an organization of terrorists at the disposal of the US extreme right-- one that has bombed passenger planes, such as those in this Administration.
Speaking of which, I noticed that Otto Reich comes up alot in the Abramoff memos? And Halley Barbour, too, if I am not mistaken.

These are the people we're going broke, and dying, fighting wars for.
[Chomsky's not "Jewish" enough.] BlueLady (6 posts) Thu Jan-05-06 12:07 PM Response to Reply #38 177. LOL!! Noam Chomsky is as "Jewish" as David Irving (famous Holocaust denier) -- which is to say, he isn't. It actually takes more than birth to make one a Jew, and an apostate (one who leaves the faith, either by word or deed) is not welcome, here or in the World to Come.
[The New Testatament is "anti-semetic," even though the whole thing is about the life of a Jewish man and Goyim founding an entire religion based upon said Jewish man. Christ, these people could find "anti-semitism" in the Talmud if they had to.] BlueLady (6 posts) Thu Jan-05-06 12:28 PM Response to Reply #54 178. Or not... No offense, but for those of us who don't happen to be Christian, using the exceedingly anti-Jewish "New Testament" as a historical source is preposterous.
All actual historical research indicates that after several Jewish rebellions against Roman rule which were bloodily crushed, the new governor of the region, Pilate, didn't want to take any chances (since Caesar had warned him he had to get the population under control), and thus executed anyone who appeared to be stirring up trouble. Jesus was one of many self-proclaimed messiahs at the time, and Pilate viewed him as a very real threat -- a personal threat, since Caesar would have Pilate removed from his post and executed if the Jews rebelled yet again. Thus, Pilate did anything BUT wash his hands of the matter; he actively arrested and executed Jesus (and lots of other people; he was quite blood-thirsty).
The Jewish role was negligible. Jews had no death penalty for all intents and purposes (the one they did have was very rarely used, and wasn't allowed under Roman law, since only Romans could execute people), and nothing Jesus did warranted the Jewish death penalty, anyway -- it was reserved for blasphemers. Neither the Sadducces (the Temple priests) nor the Pharisees (the more popular rabbis) cared about the Temple courtyard moneylenders; the courtyard was not the Temple itself but rather an open marketplace, so the moneylenders weren't doing anything wrong.
As for the Jewish people wanting Jesus dead, there is no documentation to support that, just the words of anti-Jewish, Gentile Christians written over a hundred years after Jesus' death. Most likely any Jewish response would have been pro-Jesus and anti-Roman, if there was any Jewish response at all; the last time the Jews protested something the Romans did (the Romans hung religious icons on the city wall, which is forbidden in the Jewish religion), several hundred Jews ended up dead.
The history of the time is actually a fascinating read; you should explore it (as well as the study of early Christianity by people like Dr. Elaine Paigels).

They wont delineate the difference , they follow what ever sites like Wisenthal say is true. I had one jump my nuts for offering a very different translation and he insinuated I was a liar because I had a Latino friend read it (Puerto Rican).
They also just love to rip on Chavez because he's a socialist. Blow them off its obvious they are biased and ahev a huge agenda. They'll defend AIPAC and Sharon as if these were progressive agenda folks.
Im a Jew but they like to call Jews that disagree with them self loathing Jews. So Ive decided to just not bother with them anymore. ...yes he did this in a radio address to his people who picked up on his "obvious" reference to the small ruling class of Rome as opposed to shorthand for the Jews which Catholics have used for centuries. Yeah that's the ticket!
When one talks about the crucifiers of Christ to a general audience, both the speaker and the audience know who is being referenced irregardless of historical accuracy.
[All Catholics are "anti-semites"; talk about bigotry.] rinsd (1000+ posts) Wed Jan-04-06 06:45 PM Response to Reply #36 40. When one is referencing the crucifiers.... ...to a predominantly Catholic audience, sadly there is an agreement in who is being referred to.
That does not mean necessarily that audience agrees that the Jews were the crucifiers, just that they know who the speakers is talking about.
Something similar would be when referring to the Axis of Evil we know who Bush is talking about even if we disagree with his designation. DerBeppo (201 posts) Wed Jan-04-06 05:54 PM Response to Original message 19. the lengths some will stretch to defend chavez puts cirque du soleil to shame.

Yes. The zionists have been quite successful at propagandizing Jews and Gentiles, using their ignorance of one another. One Jewish member of our household actually thought that Catholics have handed down the anti-muslim propaganda for 500 years, and that it is a central tenet of their religion (ignorant, primitive people that they are!) and that the anti-muslim propaganda has no derivation in Israel whatsoever.
