I'm starting this thread in order to discuss state-by-state (and more local) efforts towards instant recall voting, and also various mailing lists that have been started to assist in that end. From the website www.instantrunoff.com/, all of the states in the USA currently have mailing lists to support IRV except for the following: Idaho, Wyoming, both Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Indiana, Alabama, Kentucky, both Carolinas, West Virginia, Delaware, Rhode Island, and Maine. This website also provides email addresses for all of the mailing lists mentioned. I'm also going to check and see how many of them are still valid/active.

This is that run-off mechanism you were talking about?

My state (wisconsin) doesn't have referendum/initiative on a state wide basis (believe it or not) so IRV, among other things, will have to go through the republican/democratic controlled legislature. Sucks, eh?

Oh, by the way, it is instant RUNOFF voting, not recall An excellent resource for this, and other vote reforms that could be initiated is this site : www.fairvote.org/

Oh, by the way, it is instant RUNOFF voting, not recall ;) An excellent resource for this, and other vote reforms that could be initiated is this site : www.fairvote.org/Thanks. I'll remember that it's runoff instead of recall from now on. :) In California, we have an initiative process so we could get IRV with a single election with enough work. I'll provide updates on this as a project as they happen, as well as find a map of which states have referenda/initiative processes.

I'll provide updates on this as a project as they happen, as well as find a map of which states have referenda/initiative processes. Do that, I look forward to seeing success. I am going to write to my representatives and see if i can get one to do what is called a legislative initiative, which is where the legislature puts something up for a referendum among the general populace.
