Goodbye Amerika, we are OUT OF here. I'll terminate my membership here for now and I'll rejoin after we get settled in that civilized country north of the 49th parallel. Thanks for providing this forum Moses. I'll be back. Peace.

I look forward to your return.

Look forward to your return-- on line anyway!
I heard also from a young person in North Carolina that isn't even that socially conscious, and he said he wants to move to Canada-- and out of this disgraceful nation.

Thanks for providing this forum Moses. I'll be back. Peace. Good for you making good on a threat to do a difficult thing, becoming an expat. I wish I could be more optomistic about the future of Canada, as their leaders are our leaders; international bankers etc, and they're on the same page re the NWO/global fascism rollout. In relocating I figure moving closer to the equator would be desireable; given the energy situation and winter heating needs the further North you go. As far as the global fascism roll-out, it'll be very difficult to escape anywhere, as there'll be tough sledding everywhere on earth I figure. So the basics are finding somewhere with aerable land, plenty of rain, no weather extremes, civil (if not sparse) population, etc. I'm heading down to Panama/Costa Rica to case out possibilities this month. I do suspect things will unravel here very quickly.. the energy shocks from Katrina have not yet been felt across the country but they will, and heaven help us.

Had temporary access to the Internet and had to respond Relax, we're going to the west coast, aka wet coast where it is mild enough to only have a few weeks of night time temps below freezing during December/January. And we're getting a few acres and will be growing some 'sustainable crops' of trees for fire wood as well as making use of wind falls and drift wood etc. And our home will have, in addition to a gas or electric stove, a wood stove as back up for both heat and cooking. Fortunately Canada seems to run about 10 or even 20 years 'behind the US of A' when it comes to trends. Hopefully that gap will continue or even increase. At least in Canada our retirement is possible. And maybe, just maybe enough Canadians will be so disgusted by what they're seeing south of the border that they will see the writing on the wall and choose a different course. Peace

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
The home we finally got to buy (after the US housing market tanked and our condo didn't sell for over 14 months and when it did sell it was for 100k less than it's initially appraised value) we found our dream home, in a new development, in a moderately small town but with lots of forest nearby. We love it.
The difference between here and south of that border is wonderful - it really is a kinder and gentler world up here and the environment is something the majority of people are actively working to protect and something we've really been delighted to discover, locally grown produce, locally grown and processed meats (like smoked pork picnic (shoulder) are really smoked!!! bacon is really cured and not 'injected?' with water and not chemically forced to approximate the taste of the real thing. Free range eggs with bright orange yolks are still amazing to see. Local, free range, organic are all common place. And most noticeable is the absence of fear, paranoia and the presence of courtesy, respect for the mosaic of this country - no forcing immigrants and different cultures into a 'melting pot' but rather forming a rich tapestry of differences.
Access to Universal Health Care has produced some very welcome improvement in my general health and well being and we're still working to find more treatments and options to continue the improvements.
Now all we have to do is get Harper and his Harpies out of Ottawa and the Canadian Forces back to UN Peacekeeping ONLY (and out of Afghanistan).
It will take me a while to catch up on what's been happening here.
But I'm back *waving hello to everyone i said goodbye to so many months ago*
