I've just taken a stroll down SC's desolating threads. Chimpsters are in shock and so is probably much of the world as they woke up to the possibility of another 4 years of Bush this morning.
This is not the right time but eventually, Kerry in or not, democrats and supporters will need to do a post mortem. Some soul searching will be in order to determine why they were unable to wing this thing in the right direction and with a strong impact on the polls.
The entire concept of ABB and their "let us not discuss the issues now" or "we'll put Kerry's feet to the fire AFTER the elections" and "go f*ck yourself Nader" etc... will have to be scrutinized and some mea culpas may be in order here. But to be able to do that, some kind of political maturity is called for and that remains to be seen.
This is not the right time for a post mortem. Emotions are still too raw and the game is not yet over but if Americans really do want to change the system, THEY will need to make it happen. Without a step back and some critical self-examination, the same olde will be rehashed and nothing good will come of it.
Bush bashing, as much fun as it is, cannot bring about anything positive. Being "anti" anything does not necessarily bring about its opposite, being "pro" something. When people find themselves in dire situations such as war, economic downside, attacks on their democracy etc... what they look for and want is leadership with vision. Considering last night results, even with the vote tampering, it does not look like either candidates had anything to propose to all those Americans who were expecting more, much more.
Sorry America, you lose again.
